it's christmas-y around these parts.

hey ya'll!

it's getting rather christmas-y around these parts and that means one thing.
FINALS.

or for me, the last week of school.

aww heck yeah.
yeah yeah yeah.

*turns on music*
*dances around the coffee shop i'm sitting in*

*gets kicked out of said coffee shop*

just kidding. but, that is EXACTLY how i picture that kind of incident to play out. exactly.

if you, you reading this, are finished with the semester, yay!

i envy you in the best possible way.

i am almost done.

i smell the finish line. i can taste the sweet victory.

and then some more christmas festivities can begin.
and maybe i'll be all sorts of awesome and share them with you.

the exam that was a bunch of poop..

*queue Queen's "we are the champions"*

I DID IT! I SURVIVED MY FIRST YEAR OF COLLEGE! almost completely unscathed.

as 2:30 Thursday afternoon, i took my last final.
i am so relieved. it's ridiculous. i could scream. *screams*

it's very possible i was doing this dance yesterday as well.....

the thing i want to talk about here though.....is an exam that was a bunch of poop.

it all started Tuesday afternoon when i met up with a few classmates to study for the exam we all had the next day.

before i go on, i would first like to say that i know what your thinking. 'Caroline, why would you wait to study for an exam the day before?' well, i can explain. it's all these other school things that i had to do!! i had a paper that i was, honest to goodness, working on alllllllll freaking weekend. this paper gave me so much grief....and that is why i waited to study for said exam.

anyway. i was with a few classmates studying for this exam. our teacher had set up a study session with a tutor from two till about four. we were all there. we went through the study guide given to us. after the session, we stayed in the room for another FOUR HOURS STUDYING before we took a dinner break.

add it up so far. how many hours have we spent studying?

that's right.....SIX. six flipping hours.

we took a much needed dinner break.

once we were finished we did another hour or two of studying. and then took a break from THAT particular exam to study for other things. then of course we came back to THE EXAM.
isn't my facial expression awesome. it's so awesome, i want to throw up.

but by that time (11 pm) the library was closing. oh did i forget to mention we were in the library? sorry. WE WERE IN THE LIBRARY.

so lets do more math. how many hours did we devote to one subject by this time?

at least a total of nine hours by this point. NINE.

so as the library closed, we then headed to one of the dorm rooms occupied by one the my friends/classmates. and then continued to study. UNTIL 1 AM. by that time we had lost it. actually, some of us had already begun to loose it, thanks to caffeine, but you know how it is...college students and caffeine........

so.....one more math session. nine hours + two more= 11 HOURS.

yes. 11 hours in one day of studying for one subject.

and then we actually studied for at least another 2 hours the day of.....so at least 13 hours of studying.

but here is the BEST part of the story.

we are getting confident that we can do well on this exam.

we sat down and my professor passed out the exams. the first part of the exam was a breeze. i was thinking "heck yes! we got this."

oh was i so wrong. as i got further into the exam, i was so so wrong.

half of the stuff that was on the exam, the stuff we knew REALLY WELL, and had talked about a million times in class, WAS NOT ON THE EXAM.

i'm sorry, but i was ticked. we all were.

i sincerely hope that she will keep in mind how hard we worked for this exam....... because at this point i don't think any of us did well on that darn thing.

that exam was a bunch of poop.

but i have to say, while i dislike finals with the passion of a thousand burning suns, the time we spent studying was fun. so at least SOMETHING good came from it, no?

finals causes derp faces.

it has been almost a month since i last posted. my bad. school takes over practically everything and then before you know it . . . TIME FOR FINAL EXAMS. it sneaks up and almost bites you (or me in this case) in the bum.

well.......i have something i am excited to post about, and m calling in one of the highlights of my school year. more on that later. hopefully i'll be able to put it up later today or maybe even tomorrow. but then again don't count on that. more then likely, with all my finals this week, it won't come till the weekend. boo.

but just for the record, i have  HAVE NOT dropped off the face of the planet. i'm here. no worries.

until, go wonder on over here.

and heck, i'll even leave you with a derp face or two to hold you over. enjoy it.

p.s.
does anyone else find this new blogger layout awkward? or is it just me? not a fan. yet.

letters to my classes: psychology

here is another letter to my past school subject.

(oh by the way, i didn't fail art history. YES!)

psychology is one of those subjects, that sounds interesting and is interesting, but then again it's not all at the same time.

dear psychology,

you also gave me grief. while you were interesting, and while i studied by bum off for exams on yourself, you still lacked with the understanding department. i also don't understand why i sometimes felt like i was in biology class, with the talks on the parts of the brain and the birds and the bees......lucky for you i will not be majoring in psychology.
maybe you'll have better respect for the next batch of students.

sincerely,
caroline, the unamused.

letters to my classes: art history

hello my dear friends.....it has been awhile, no?

well as i stated in my last post, i have been MIA simply because of stupid finals. annnd...not many awkward moments have happened because of that. although finals are pretty awkward themselves, eh?

anyways, i thought it would be fun to do a couple posts to these particular subjects that i have been taking, just to explain how i feel. this will call for a few posts today to make up for lack of post-ege, if you will.

who's excited??? ME.

alrighty....my first letter is toooo.....ART HISTORY. the worst subject known to man.

(note: now if you like art or majored in this when you were in college,

please don't take offense. i really DID NOT enjoy this class AT ALL. )

back story:

when i first applied for college (UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA-BEAUFORT) i applied for studio art, because i was hoping they had something in photography (something which i loved at the time and still enjoy now), like most of the colleges i had looked at. well, i finished the app, ready to turn it in, and there was something called, the dreaded "application fee". it was at least 50 bucks. crazy right? yes. so i had to request a fee waiver.
anyways, i went and visited again, just to tour the school and on this particular day they were offering to scratch the application fee if you applied then. so i did.

when i got to the end of orientation a few months later, i was given my class schedule. it had all the classes a freshman studio art major would take, including ART HISTORY. i explained about the whole app thing, and so we ended up picking and choosing some freshman courses. being the DUMB DUMB that i am, i saw the art history course and thought to myself "oh hey, ill leave that one on there. it looks interesting." IT ISN'T. no one bit interesting.

and so this leads me to the letter i wrote on facebook the weekend before my exam.

dear art history,

before i get back to studying, i wanted to let you know something. YOU HATE ME. and i hate you. but you're not making this easy. you make me cry (literally) and think that i will fail (which is a possibility). so, if i do have to take you again, please try as hard as you can and not cause me so much grief. i thought we could be friends, but from the looks of it, that's NEVER GONNA HAPPEN.

i hope i never see you again

sincerely,

Caroline,
you're unsatisfied participant.
