the shop around the corner

"Are you tall?
Are you short?
Are your eyes blue or brown?
Don't tell me.
It doesn't matter as long as our minds meet."

what are you thankful for?

i am thankful for God allowing the cold crisp weather to FINALLY make an appearance in this southern town.

i'm thankful for my mother letting me go on walks at night in the cold crisp air.

i'm thankful for friends who come along on these cold, crisp night-walks.

i'm thankful for the fellowship that good friends have together.
i'm thankful for reminiscing about old memories.
what are you thankful for today?

if your my friend on facebook or have heard me talk about these schools (at this point, they shall remain nameless for the time being), you know which schools i'm referring to....

well let's just say, that if i get accepted
to these two schools, its going to be
one stinking tough decsion.....

i would GREATLY appreciate you joining my in prayer as i begin this tough decision making process.....that God would be GLORIFIED in my decision, that His will would be done through this whole process........

straight up

songs are great.
amazing, and for some people, a way of life.
There are some songs that make you smile, some make you mad, some make you laugh, and some make you sad (gawlly....i'm a poet who didn't know it).

in Christian music, there are the songs that you know are from Christian bands, which in your head, mean that they are Christian songs.
some songs require a scavenger hunt to find what in the world they are talking about. some are quite obvious.

i say all this to tell you about two songs i have been listening to ALOT lately (mainly ALOT today)

these songs are special to me because, in all honesty, they straight up share the gospel. IN A WAY THAT ATTRACTS MOST HUMANS: through la musica.......

why don'tcha take a listen to these tunes:

"Hosanna"

"Lead me to the Cross"

my taste buds are quite happy

would you like to know why?

i have taken a new step in the world of coffee
(don't judge....coffee is a beautiful thing, and one of my dearest and bestest friends)

i can now say something that i never thought i would ever say about this particular type of coffee...........ok........*wipes brow*......here is goes folks....

I LOVE HAZELNUT COFFEE!!!!

i don't even know how to begin describing it. before i made this new step in my life, i had told myself i would never like nor try hazelnut coffee....the thought of nut flavored coffee made my skin crawl .

don't get me wrong. i have had hazelnut coffee before
but i had mixed it up with another flavor
to make a fun concoction.
NEVER had i had straight up hazelnut. (oh hey. that rhymes....)
Then one morning when i was at my friend, Hayley's, house for breakfast
her mother was wonderful and fixed a pot of coffee.
i thought something was different about it, but couldn't quite place it.
it was just delicious!
i asked what flavor it was.
i got my answer: hazelnut....the kind i swore that i would never try or like.
of course keep in mind that it was dunkin dounuts brand coffee, so i just kept that in mind. i kept thinking to myself ''the only reason i like this hazelnut coffee is because it is from dunkin donuts."
and i kept thinking that
and kept thinking that
until.......this very moment: i am sitting here drinking Nescafe' instant coffee (because they where nice enough to send me some free samples) in none other but....hazelnut.
and you know what?
its great, delicious, amazing, nutty, and i-don't-know-what-else......
my taste buds are happy tastebuds....:)

Beaufort weather has a sense of humor.......

i have decided Beaufort's weather has a sense of humor.

honestly...it feels like it purposely sticks out a leg to trip you only to laugh at you when you fall on your face......

My reason for this decision is based on what happened to me yesterday......

See the umbrella?
yes you should...its RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE.......:)

anyways......i was dropped off at the tech. library so i could work on some homework, and then walk down to my orthodontist for an appointment....being the airhead that i tend to be, i did even think to bring an umbrella even though it had rained the day before and the sky was looking very overcast. of course....
so after being at the library for about an hour, i decided to look out the window. and low and behold, IT WAS RAINING....of course. i ask God right then and there to stop the rain...and it did....for a little while....

i get ready to leave the library, happily packing my things mind you, when i look out the window again.....it was raining HARDER. so i decided right then and there that i really needed and umbrella. i go in the college book store. they have umbrellas, but the only kind available are the big ones (notice pic above), which are, of course, the most expensive.
one umbrella and $25 later (yes, that's how much the umbrella cost...ridiculous, i know), i walk out side, with the already unwrapped umbrella, keep in mind, so i now can't return it.

OF COURSE.....being Beaufort.......it would still be raining, BUT not hard enough to need an umbrella......OF COURSE.........

i would really like to break this umbrella............

Come on my favorite females!

we had a great sunday school lesson yesterday. (btw: have you ever noticed that most of my blog posts are from sunday school lessons? i don't think there is anything wrong with that......;)

we discussed our focus as young women and "what commands our attention", while using the book Girls Gone Wise by Mary A. Kassian....please get this book and read it and check out more info here: http://www.girlsgonewise.com/

but a question was asked in class that got my attention: "Who in this past month, has memorized atleast ONE bible verse?" i looked around the room to see who had raised their hand....only two, maybe three people.....i wasn't one of them.......

as i was thinking about this question, i suddenly felt ashamed of all of the young women in the class, including myself. hardly anyone had even tried to memorize a verse....(either that or there were plenty of people to shy to raise their hand...)

we were then challenged to memorize Titus 2:3-7; what it means to be a women.....

so, to those girls(or any young or older women...or anyone for that matter, who happens to read this blog):
Come on my favorite females! Lets try hard and start memorizing those verses, so that we can hide in our heart, what it means to be a Godly young women:

"Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love thier children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonered. Likewise urge the young men to be sensible; in all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified," Titus 2:3-7

this verse reminds me that i am, in some way, an older women, and that i have younger women looking up to me, watching what i do, what i say, how i act, what i wear........i DO NOT want to lead them in the wrong direction, i DO NOT want to be a bad example to these precious younger women who are watching me......i DO want them to grow up and be Goldy young women of God, having wonderful examples to follow and i hope as a sunday school class, we can be that good example.......COME ON MY FAVORITE FEMALES!! WE CAN DO THIS!
